Our Origin Story

    RMD Systems began with a spark of imagination. After seeing large robotic walking machines in a science-fiction film, the idea took hold — what would it take to build something like that in the real world?

    Early research revealed the gap between concept and execution. Existing designs were limited by mechanical inefficiencies that could be solved through a more thoughtful approach to motion and control. That challenge became the company’s first mission.

    By 2015, the pursuit of a functional walking machine had moved from late-night sketches to hands-on engineering in a borrowed barn workshop. The earliest stages of development were shaped not only by determination, but by a remarkable circle of support — friends, family members, and professional engineers who contributed their time, skills, and belief in the vision. Their insight and encouragement helped bring the first concepts to life.

     While development of the Hexapod continued, the company’s capabilities expanded into aerospace engineering and agricultural aerial drones. Those years were spent designing and producing high-performance systems that carried the same principles forward: precision, reliability, and solutions grounded in real-world performance.

     Years of iteration, testing, and refinement followed. The result was a new generation of walking technology - built with improved actuators and leg mechanics capable of carrying higher payloads and performing across demanding terrain.

     What began as a single idea fueled by curiosity has evolved into a full-scale defense contracting company producing innovative machines and systems that bridge imagination with practicality.
